Over 10 years’ experience in Fund Management, including the origination and execution of investments and the management of private equity infrastructure assets. Working across the spectrum of the Fund Management business, from Capital Raising, Operations, Transactions to Asset Management, has resulted in a thorough understanding and strategic view of the entire private equity business model.

Experience in optimizing and managing a portfolio of assets through strategic contribution on board and various sub-committees, including performance monitoring, asset and fund valuations, operational improvements, risk and crisis management. Roles extended to the development and implementation of various strategic initiatives, including fund and portfolio strategies, secondary transactions, and asset value enhancement strategies, including refinancing, capital restructuring, asset restructuring and asset disposals.

Successful track-record of closing several Mergers and Acquisitions across a variety of sectors, such as Mining, Telecommunication, Renewable Energy, Property Infrastructure and Rail & Toll Road assets.

Douglas holds a Business Science Information Systems Honours degree from the University of Cape Town. He also qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in the UK and of the Actuarial Society of South Africa in 2007 and completed his LLB at UNISA in 2021. He has worked in the financial services sector for the past twenty years, in life insurance, retail- and investment banking and most recently as a structured finance advisor and non-executive director.

Douglas has held positions as a non-executive director for several public and private entities, including Newgold, Africa’s largest exchange-traded fund, Newfunds ETF, several home loan securitisation SPVs and commercial paper conduits, a listed industrials group, a project finance bond SPV and a school. He fulfils different roles for each of these entities, including board chairman, audit committee chairman, chairman of the risk and capital committee and lead independent non-executive director.

He has acted as a transaction advisor to a number of South Africa’s largest financial institutions, including Old Mutual and Liberty. In particular, he has advised on investments into more than R6 billion of senior and mezzanine listed and unlisted debt, private equity, and arranged the first syndication of a non-recourse interest rate hedge to a non-bank financial institution in South Africa. Investees ranged from non-recourse energy projects to African multi-lateral development banks, telecoms companies and sovereign counterparties. He was also responsible for training existing corporate debt and leveraged finance transactors in non-recourse project finance principles.

Tracy joined STANLIB as a senior client fund manager in September 2017. In 2019, Tracy was promoted to head of institutional distribution. She joined STANLIB from Standard Chartered Bank, where she was the Head of Financial Markets.
